Learning Objectives

Lean Healthcare can eliminate and effectively remove many obstacles to excellence, such as: worker frustration, errors and oversights that can increase patient safety risks. Many of the improvements are very affordable and don’t require costly or sweeping technologically advanced fixes. Very often, simple, well designed interactions based on scientific observations and experiments bring almost undreamed of improvements, quickly.

Thoughtful planning, swift implementation, and continuous improvement are the trademarks of Lean Healthcare. Lean Thinking can be applied to many areas in hospital systems such as: admitting/discharge, internal patient flow within and between departments, operating room turnover, scheduling processes and systems,

workplace disorganization, medical records, inventory (supplies) control, administrative processes and billing, equipment availability, shift change
processes, pharmacy and laboratory work flows and turnaround times, emergency room work throughput, HR/hiring processes, medical/surgical floor improvement, A/R & A/P processes and discharge.

  • Understand and identify and eliminate Waste in your Clinic or Hospital
  • Have a more organized and synchronous flow Healthcare workplace
  • See progress in the workplace and communicate it
  • Improve throughput and reduce patient care risk
  • Create Value Stream Maps that reveal the Waste creating processes
  • Keep your finger on the “heartbeat” of the Healthcare system
  • Set-up Kanban supply systems
  • Conduct Kaizen Events to realize quick continuous improvements through team efforts

Target Audience
